Not Only a Mom

Words from a whole person.

Ice and Ick and Cold

Blessed be it is cold out there. And it’s cold in here too. Not that we are dying or in mortal peril or anything, but it’s annoyingly cold in here.

We have been sans furnace this winter. Two cheap attempts at repair didn’t do the trick, and the budget doesn’t allow for further attempts at this time. When the temps stay in the mid 20’s and above, it’s OK, our electric heater does the trick. The low teens we are in right now appears to be a different story.

I scraped up the cash for one more heater and sent V to the dreaded Wal Mart a few hours ago. Unfortunately, I neglected to make sure he took his Adderal first, and his brain is about as scattered as it can get at the moment. Around the time the sleet has started up once again, and I’m sure the garage door will be opening any minute, he calls from the store asking the same questions for the third time. The same questions I anticipated and wrote the answers to on his list before he ever left the house.

He has managed to work his way only half through a list of 6 items for purchase in an hour and a half in the store. He claims it’s just because it’s busy in the store, and I’m sure it is, everyone has to stock up on two weeks worth of food for a two day storm. But come on, get the stuff and get home already.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes I started another project. Longies for RM from this pattern, to both cover her cloth diaper and keep her little legs warm. Practical and logical and it makes me happy to have this many things in the works at once, I can’t get bored. I’m going to wrap up in blankets, watch the Psych marathon on the USA channel and knit all afternoon. Oh yeah, and listen for the garage door to open so I can relax knowing my goofy husband is home and safe and sound.
