Like a Lion

Everyone knows the old saying, don’t they? If March comes in like a lion, it goes out like a lamb. Well, we shall see.

It was definitely in like a lion this year. Yesterday was wonderfully warm for the end of February: all the way up to 75 degrees. And as frequently happens in the spring, along with a warm windy day we got thunderstorms. We had it all, lightning, thunder, heavy rain and hail. We were fortunate the tornadoes missed us though. We’ve often joked that from our back porch we could throw a baseball to the next county south. That’s one of the counties that got hit with the really damaging stuff with an actual tornado touchdown. Too close for comfort.

The storms ran all evening and into the night. It seemed to quiet down just after bedtime, but there was still a bit of it rumbling through as midnight rolled around and brought in the new month.

This morning, it’s like a step backwards from spring into winter. It’s still very blustery, but much colder with temperatures in the 30’s. And it’s actually spitting a bit of snow. No dull boring weather here as we went from spring thunderstorms back to snow inside of 24 hours.

So I’d call that in like a lion. Now we wait and see what the end of the month brings.
