This is A Crazy Place
The internet is a funny place to be sometimes. The most interesting things can happen, and you run into some real characters also.
I’ve been linked from an unusual place, at least unusual for me and my typical crowd. I feel kind of sorry for some of the readers popping over here, expecting more fashion tips or celebrity gossip or some such, and finding nothing more than a simple knitting mommy blogger. I’m actually more than that, but at first glance I’m probably not all that interesting. But you never know, my creative talents, adorable children and gentle wit might win me a couple of new followers!
The traffic is kind of fun to watch, but it appears to be upping the spam comments. I’ve also found myself the recipient of a few simply mean remarks as well. I don’t have to publish the nastiness here: it’s my blog, feel free to go pick on me somewhere else. Constructive criticism is one thing; rudeness is another.
It was also an interesting day on Yahoo groups as well. It’s not out of the ordinary for odd glitches to happen on Yahoo, just like they happen so many other places. It’s life, it’s minor in the grand scheme of things, just move on. What was truly amazing to me was the way people reacted.
The problem was messages sent to groups getting duplicated. So of course, people had to send message to the groups saying “What’s going on” and “Is this happening to everyone” and the like. Of course each of those inquiries got duplicated and sent over and over and over. Didn’t they realize that would happen? Then of course, three or four people had to respond to each one of those questions, and those messages were duplicated. Within a short time we had a massive increase in the normal number of messages flying through the groups.
Just a little hint to everyone: It’s Yahoo, it’s the internet, things get screwed up sometimes. Just sit back and it will blow over. It’s not necessary to add to the clutter. You guys doing that are probably the same ones who forward me chain e-mails or the latest “warning, send to everyone you know” emails too, aren’t you? Quit it.
I hope you all forgive my slightly grumpy social, or cyber-social commentary today. I’ll be back tomorrow with something lighter and more pleasant to talk about!
