A Summer Wardrobe

Thursday, April 5th, 2007

Last time I posted I talked about the day getting away from me, and my belief that the weekend would too. Now it seems the week has as well, and it’s been nearly that long since I posted. It never seems like that much time has passed by, but I guess it’s one of those signs of life or age or some cliché along those lines!

I’ve been busy in that time though. I’ve found myself with just a few dollars to spare, and have invested it in a few practical things, and a few things intended only for my sanity. I debated and studied and thought about it for a week or so, and decided on some Panda Cotton sock yarn and ordered it from The Loopy Ewe. I got wonderful service from Sheri there and wonderful yarn as well. I’ve cast on a pair of Quill Lace socks and I’m impressing myself with my skills. Thank goodness it’s a simple lace pattern or I’d be depressing myself with my lack of skills instead.

RM is outgrowing clothing at an alarming pace, as toddlers tend to do, and as some unseasonably warm days crept up on us I started thinking about keeping her clothed for the summer. I bought three patterns for sundresses, shorts and rompers. One pattern probably would have done fine, but why stop when you are on a roll? I picked up a couple of fabrics also, thought I didn’t need to. While my yarn stash is a meager little thing, my fabric stash is extensive, built up over years of bargain and ebay shopping.

I’ve finished two dresses and two rompers from the first pattern so far. Here’s a front view of one dress, and a back view of one of the rompers.

RM wore one of the dresses the other day. It was beautiful outside, with a nice warm spring rain.

After high temperatures in the low 80’s last week and early this week, we’ve been treated to lows in the 20’s and frost the last couple of days. I’ve had to dig out the jackets and sweatshirts again. It won’t last though; it’s just the Midwest trying to decide what season it’s going to be.
