Miracle Cat
It has been over a month since I made this post about my beautiful kitty Poco. A month of record breaking cold nights, of unusual spring snow, and of heavy rains. A month of sad children wanting their pet back, and sad parents who felt just the same. A month of double glances at all the usual sleeping spots, and a month of tearing up at every picture we ran across.
Then yesterday we had a miracle. Poco is alive, and Poco is home.
I don’t know how it’s possible. She’s 18 years old, front declawed, and has always been an inside cat. She was actually gone for 38 days. The weather extremes around here have been exceptional this year. And yet we found her as we were driving home last night. She was simply there, walking down the street a block away from the house. She’s thin, terribly and frighteningly thin, but she’s OK. She has no wounds to speak of, a healthy appetite and lots of affection for everyone. She’s eating and resting and enjoying being the center of attention.
I am amazed that this has happened. I don’t understand how she survived. But I am grateful, so very grateful. And I know that we have definitely been blessed to have an exceptional animal in our lives.
Welcome home Poco. We are completely amazed and totally thrilled to have you back.

Actually, SW tells me he isn’t surprised at all. He says he knew all along she would be OK.

Yay! I’m glad your cat came home.
