Tornado Watch

If you live in the Midwest for any amount of time, you recognize days like this. There’s a heaviness to the air, and a feeling of expectation. The breeze is slight for now, and all is quiet, but the clouds are building and the bigger gusts of air have a chill to them. Sunlight filtering through the cloud layers has a particular off color and quality to it. It’s not that all days like this end up stormy with tornadoes, but nearly all afternoon and evening storms are preceeded by days like this.

SW and I had a discussion about what to do if there is a tornado warning. His plan includes ushering all three cats, both dogs and the cage of guinea pigs downstairs with him. My plan includes getting the kids to safety and leaving the animals to fend for themselves. This does not mean I hate the animals, I think I’ve proved that. But I need my kids to be safe. I’m not sure how to handle this. You can’t reason with a child with Autism like you would another person, and you can’t not reason with him either. I think my best bet is to hope we never have a tornado approach without significant warning time. Or maybe I should move the guinea pig cages downstairs for the duration of the storm season.

Poco is doing well. She sleeps and rests a lot, but is still eating well. I’ll be glad to see her get some strength back and put a little weight on. She is headed in the right direction as we offer her a steady diet of tuna, and milk for cats and fresh crunchy food and water. She is more affectionate than she’s ever been before. I’m guessing she is as glad to be home as we are to have her.

The bag felting went great also. It’s still a bit damp, but I will photo it soon and start hunting for lining fabric.

Stay safe from the storms!
