Victorian Lace
Sunday, July 29th, 2007Just under the wire, again, I’ve finished the socks for the Six Sox Knitalong. This is an absolutely beautiful pattern, and I honestly can’t believe I finished them.

This is by far the most complex pattern I’ve completed, and I’m quite proud of myself. The yarn is Panda Wool in the colorway Bluebell. I actually received this yarn from Adrienne after winning the drawing in a blog contest she held a couple of months ago. I think I’ve put it to good use!
One tip I’ve read several places for working a lace patterns really saved me on this. I put the instructions for each row on a separate index card. You can join them with a ring or something, but I just paper-clipped the group together. Each time you finish a row, flip the card to the back and keep knitting. This really helped me keep my place in the 12-row pattern; even with all the distractions swirling around me. It would work just as well putting each chart row on a card, I just find it a little easier to work from written instructions; so far translating chart symbols to stitches is just one two many steps for my brain.
Now I just need to make myself finish one more pair before I jump in on the next group project. It gets posted August 1st, so I should get a move on.
