Not Only a Mom

Words from a whole person.

Learning from Big Brother

SW spent the afternoon teaching RM to say “shirt.” He had her saying it over, and over, and over. If you are wondering why, say it out loud. Then drop the “r” sound like a toddler might.

Sweet, isn’t it?

Remind me not to tell him how we used to get my little brother to say “truck” because of the problems he had with the “tr” sound and what he turned that in to. My mother was right, it would all come back to haunt me some day.

  1. This post made me smile as it brought back a memeory from when my youngest son was almost 2 years old. His oldest brother (we have 4 boys) had been playing with him in the bedroom; after a few minuted they appeared in the living room and my oldest son could barely contain himself he was giggling so hard. He told my baby, “tell Mama what you said.” My youngest warbled something I did not understand, so I asked him to repeat it. When he did I almost passed out! I turned to my husband in shock and asked if he’d heard what P had said. Hubby called him over and after having P repeat it twice (while big brother doubled over with laughter), hubby smiles reassuringly and says: “he said he has a BROKEN toe.” Trust me, they have a lot of trouble pronouncing the ‘br’ sound, too. Hoo-boy…. kids.

Anyhow, just stopped in to have a look around after reading your Six Sox post. Like the blog very much and will be adding it to my regular reads. I just joined SSK and this is one doozy of a sock to start on. Love the stitch pattern, but it sure tests your mettle as a knitter. After looking at your progress picture, I’d say you have this down to an art. In one word, BEAUTIFUL!
