Three Kids, Three More Stories
RM likes to put on clothes. We went through a period of changing clothes, at least shirts, several times a day. I’m fortunate that for the most part she pulls things out of the dirty laundry to wear, and considerately puts them back there as well. Today has been different; she has been adding clothes in layers. First a T-shirt, then a sweater over that, then another T-shirt, and now a denim jacket to top it all off. She looks a bit like a linebacker, nicely bulked up.
SW couldn’t sleep the other night, a common occurrence for him. I am fortunate here also that these days he is old enough that it isn’t necessary to wake me up to sit with him. While he does tend to raid the kitchen cabinets a little much, for the most part he simply finds things to entertain himself. For years he has collected Origami books and papers, and is developing quite a talent for it. He manages models that he used to beg me to fold for him on his own now; and is mastering new ones every day. The other morning I woke up to his gift of a lovely flower in a vase.

TR wanted to talk about college the other night. He was thinking about after high school, and staying at home to keep studying and if that was OK with me. I’m a little sad to think he would even wonder about it, because of course it’s OK and I hope I never gave him any other impression. I’m even more sad to think about how much he is growing up. My little one is thinking about what he is going to do with his life. I guess that would make me a little sad but extremely proud at the same time.
