Not Only a Mom

Words from a whole person.

Beginning, Middle and End

I couldn’t possibly finish so many things without giving in to the urge to start something new. I’d been looking for a scarf pattern for my Mother’s Holiday gift and I found one I really like. It’s Tiger Eyes, and the yarn I’m using is Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Sock in Flame. So far I really like this pattern. It’s complicated enough to be challenging and interesting, but not so complicated that it makes me want to throw down the whole thing in disgust at myself. I’m past the first whole repeat, and so far so good.

I actually won the yarn from Hope in a blog contest she held a while ago. I got to thinking about my mother, the colors she wears in clothes and scarves and how perfect this one would be for her. I learned about Hope’s contest awhile back from Adrienne, who is coincidentally holding another contest on her blog as we speak! It’s all about moving and reading in the right circles!

I have been making good progress on my Forest Canopy Shawl also. This one is a Holiday gift for my Stepmom. Again, a really nice pattern that is coming out just beautiful. I am very much looking forward to blocking this one and getting to see the design really pop out.

I’m also working on keeping all of my children warm, not just the baby. I’ve finished one fleece jacket, this one for SW. This has actually been cut out for over a year. I never finished it for last winter, so it’s quite an accomplishment that I’m done with it now.

I have not, however, made much progress on the one for TR.

Nor have I on the one for my husband.

I still have PJ’s in mind for RM, and a dress and top or two from some cute knit fabrics a friend gave to me. So maybe I’m not quite ready for the cold weather.
