Eggar

Decisions are sometimes difficult for me. I want to knit another felted bag for myself, but cannot decide on a pattern. I want to continue my venture into lace, and have actually decided on several patterns, not knowing which to try first. I’m also not quite sure if I have the faith in my knitting skills just yet.

I hunt here and there, print and study patterns, sort yarn, sleep on various ideas. When it gets totally frustrating, and I can’t pin down enough details to just go do something, I chuck it all and dive completely in to something else.

So last weekend I gave up on lace and bags and hunting patterns, took a break from the gift knitting, and whipped myself up an Edgar. I’ve had one skein of Silk Garden sitting around for awhile, perfect for this pattern.

It’s a cute little thing. I blocked it to stretch it out a bit and got it to 45 inches off one skein. It’s perfect to tuck in around my neck for some extra warmth. It’s just in time too, as we had a little cold front move in and it’s a very chilly and blustery day.

I love the name of this pattern, but it perhaps give me a different mental image than for everyone else. It makes me think of the movie Men in Black, when Siobhan Fallon’s character describes the creature that was in her house; looking less like her husband and more like something wearing an “Eggar suit.”
