Could Have Been Worse

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

While we did wake up to ice this morning, and I do have friends without power, all is well here and the ice was not so bad as it could have been.

It was a little disconcerting to see some of these branches hanging over the back door, reaching down close enough to touch, but no permanent damage is done. This poor willow tree has survived much over the years, from ice and snow and winds, but won’t take much more. We probably should have had it taken out long ago, but lacking either the funds or the heart to do so, we just watch and wait and cross our fingers in every storm.

It’s been a quiet day, as we had planned to stay in anyway. We had projects to work on and food to eat and company from V who took the day off work and TR who got the day off from school. The guys have ventured out this evening to break up the cabin fever. Amazing how just a couple of degrees in temperature can make the difference between disaster and inconvenience.

I’ve been very motivated and accomplishing much. I’d say I’m actually ahead of my schedule on projects, but that would be tempting fate. So let’s just say I feel comfortable sneaking in one more little knitting project, only starting tomorrow when V is out of the house back at work.
