So Very Close

I’m down to whichever comes first on my Dad’s Irish Hiking Scarf: the last two or three inches or the last of the yarn. And just three more repeats on the Tiger Eye Lace scarf for my Mom (then grafting and blocking), but it goes pretty quick when I actually sit down to work on it.

The two quilts are coming along great also. I’m excited for the finished products on these. Both tops are all pieced together and one is pinned and ready for quilting (which I will do straight and simple, no time or skills for anything fancy.) I need to move everything to the dining room table today. My sewing table is just not big enough, even though the size on the quilts is really just glorified lap quilt, not quite twin size. I did run into a little snag - I was going to just self bind them, but one backing fabric is not quite wide enough. I guess I’ll have to dig through the fabric stash and see what I have that might coordinate. I should probably try to do it really right and make bias strips, but we will have to see.

Really though, I’m doing so well that I did go ahead with one more project. After all, it just wouldn’t be the Holidays without at least one project to finish up at the very last minute, while hiding it and trying to make it a surprise for someone in the household. Where would the fun be without that?

Gratuitous shot of our couple inches of snow from yesterday:

I found a great group of knitters in Lee’s Summit recently, and I was really enjoying getting to know everyone. But in the last three weeks we’ve had two weekends of winter weather, and I’ve had one weekend of family obligations so I haven’t been back. Next Saturday is spoken for also. But if any of you guys happen to wander by here, I promise you didn’t scare me away. It’s just life getting in the way of life.
