Irish Hiking Scarf
Friday, December 21st, 2007I absolutely adore this scarf. V does too, he wanted to keep it, but it’s for my Dad. It’s actually a shame I didn’t finish it sooner because Dad is in Colorado right now and could probably use some warmth and comfort.

The pattern is obviously Irish Hiking Scarf. The yarn is Brown Sheep Serendipity Tweed in Nebraska Wheat and I couldn’t recommend a yarn any more. It is soft, wonderful quality, beautifully tweedy and drapes fantastic.

This is the one that ended up much longer than I anticipated. I was going for maybe 60 inches or so. But I didn’t stop knitting until about 66 inches. Then a soak and gentle blocking left it at about 74 inches. Good thing my Dad is 6′2″.

I would definitely love to find the money to buy enough of this stuff for a great big sweater. (I still cringe thinking how much yarn it would take to make a sweater my size though.) But the Moody Blue Flax would be so pretty; and the name is so cool. Or the Oregano Leaves. Or Black Iris.
