Quilted
I finished the two quilts I was making for my nieces in good time.

Thanks to SW for holding them up for photographing.

They are the same, yet different, with the blocks made according to the tutorial here. For the most part, this is all from fabric I had stashed over the years. I just bought two or three more yards in browns and neutrals to be sure I had enough, but I actually have enough to make one more this size.
The backing fabric turned out to be a bit narrower than the standard 45 inches, so it wasn’t wide enough to fold over and make it self binding. There wasn’t enough to make enough strips for binding either; but I had a bit of a brainstorm. I made a sort of patchwork binding from leftover strips from the square construction and what extra there was of backing fabric.

I think they came out pretty nice overall. I do plan to make one more from the extra squares if I can get myself motivated. But the experience has taught me that quilting is not one of my favorite things to do.

These turned out really great. It took me a moment to realize that I was acutally looking at two different quilts, but now I see it and I can’t figure out why I didn’t see it before!

I really like those quilts. I have 20 squares and need to get the rest done. Too many ufo’s around my house.
