OK

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

RM has a way of asking for something, then saying OK as if she’s answering her own question. It sounds like ‘O-kay when she says it, and implies that she’s assuming your complete and total cooperation in whatever undertaking she’s just proposed.

I wanna samwich, ‘O-kay. Then she pulls out a loaf of bread and tries to open it.

Go walk, ‘O-kay. Then she’s headed for the front door.

Movie, ‘O-kay. And she hands you the DVD she’s interested it, then sits and watches the TV just knowing you are going to put it on for her.

More chocolate, ‘O-kay. I want gum, ‘O-kay.

My Mom laughs at this. Mom says she gets this mental picture of RM saying, “I’m going to burn the house down now, ‘O-kay,” then gets to work as if it’s a perfectly normal and acceptable thing to do, just because she said the “OK.”
