My Husband’s Evil Twin
I have come to believe my husband has an evil twin. He sneaks in to the house and carries on conversations with me. These aren’t little short conversations, but rather the longer ones where plans are laid out and decisions are made. The evil one arrives, participates in a discussion, offers suggestions, comes to an agreement with me then slips away. Then my poor husband is left clueless in his wake.
Evil twin V was here just this morning. My talk with him went like this:
Me: So I made that appointment we were talking about. They got me in tomorrow morning at 10:00.
Evil V: Tomorrow at 10:00? That’s good.
Me: Yes, I was glad. That should work shouldn’t it? You don’t leave until noon, right?
Evil V: Yep, tomorrow I need to leave by noon. Today I’m going early to put gas in the car, but tomorrow nothing special is going on.
Me: Good. It’s only about 20 minutes from here, so I should be home in plenty of time.
Evil V: Great.
Not even an hour later, it became apparent that none of the above conversation took place with V, but rather it had to have been that insidious other one. I must have been speaking to that evil twin because V approached me and initiated the following:
V: So, do you have any idea when you are going to be able to make that appointment.
Me: (Blank stare.)
V: You know, that appointment you were talking about?
Me: Um, tomorrow. 10:00
V: Oh good, so it’s soon then.
Me: Didn’t we just talk about this?
V: (Blank stare.)

Men. I shouldn’t say anything because usually in our house I am the evil twin.
