Not Only a Mom

Words from a whole person.

Randomness

It’s just too hard to write a coherent post these days. I don’t have the energy to think it all through. How about some random things?

SW’s elbow is mending. He’s out of the splint now, but cannot push, pull, lift or something else we can’t remember with that arm. The doctor was talking too fast. We get the point though.

Arthur the kitten likes to try and catch the mouse pointer or the letters popping up on the computer screen. He’s doing it right now.

V introduced RM to the Beatles yesterday. Ever since then she has been chanting “Yellow Submer, Yellow Submer, Yellow Submer.”

Our central air died. We are trying to get by with a couple of window units but I’d love to have just one more. I’m a wimp in the heat but I can take cold really well. The way our house is situated and built makes it easy to heat, and really hard to cool though. So far we’ve had a cooler than average summer; thank goodness for that!

Our local fireworks display was last night. RM loved them. “Boom! Noise! Boom! Orange one! Pink one! Blue one! Boom! Pretty!!”

Knitting is going slowly, but still going. I have one Froot Loop sock done and about 6 rows of the second. I want to find the yarn to make Helena before fall. RM loves orange, and pink and green and purple. (Ok, she likes lots of color.) I’ve been hoarding a little yarn gift card since Christmas that will probably get me most of the way there. I knew the perfect use for the card would come along!

We have wonderful neighbors who are moving this week. The economy got to them and they both lost their jobs in the course of one week. They are drastically downsizing their house but upsizing their yard, but out in the country two hours away. (They have five dogs, all rescues!) We will miss them and their sweet and perfectly trained pack of dogs too.

I love my job. I work from my house, doing English training by telephone for people in Europe and Asia. Six days week I dial up people in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, South Korea, etc. and help them develop and improve their English skills. I learn lots of wonderful things from them as well. I’m constantly impressed by how much people have in common, no matter where they live. I also have learned more about soccer these past few weeks than ever before in my life. I may even watch the Euro Cup final today!

I can’t think of anything else at the moment, significant or not. I’ll just say I’m around and keeping busy!

  1. Wow, what a fascinating job you have! Fantastic. And you get to work from home too, which makes it all the better.

  2. Sorry about your c/a unit and I hope you can stay cool enough. I’m glad that S elbow is mending. The froot loop socks are awesome. I still haven’t used the yarn you gave me yet. I need to find the right hook and get started. I’m glad your job is going well. I hope to see you soon. :-)
